Who We Are

We launched Crosspoint in 1996 with the idea to take the church to the people and to keep the church structure simple. We met in homes for Bible study throughout the week and gathered in one place for worship on Sunday. We met for worship in a renovated office building at 2900 Mill Street for many year until a season of renewing our vision and following God’s direction led us to our new location inside Reno Town Mall.

From this location we are better situated and equipped to engage our community by showing tangible care to our neighbors so that we can share the love of God found in the Good New of Jesus - that Jesus took the penalty for our mistakes so that we can have a relationship with God who created and loves us.

We affiliate with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Nevada Baptist Convention, and the Sierra Baptist Association. Each of these entities exists to facilitate local churches to cooperate in what they are called to do. And that’s share the Gospel, and love one another. We are grateful for this national, state, and local cooperative groups of churches committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with people worldwide.

We are committed to being a church that serves our community with love, helps each other grow in our Christian faith, tells people about Jesus whenever we can.

Our Leaders

  • Pastor Jared Trotter

    Jared and his wife Kimberly joined Crosspoint in September 2021. His lifelong passion is study and teaching the wonders of God's Word. Saved at 9 years old, he received a call to ministry at the age of 16. God prepared and grew him over two decades until God's timing was fulfilled. He is honored and humbled to serve the Crosspoint community and call them to an ever more sincere faith.

    In the mean time, he has started, lead, and written Bible studies in churches from California, to Wyoming (where he met and married Kimberly), and Tennessee before settling in Reno, NV. Across the years and miles, God reveled His faithfulness, beauty, and glory.

    When time allows, Jared enjoys the quietness of God's creation in any manner he can explore it.

  • Doug Vaughan - Elder

    Doug and Debbie, his wife, love the Crosspoint family.

    He and his family moved to Reno, Nevada in 1994 so he could serve on staff with Steamboat Baptist Church. Then, in January 1996, he helped launch Crosspoint. He began serving as the lead pastor in 2001, and only recently stepped aside from his role as Crosspoint’s pastor.

    He is now serving as the area missionary for the Sierra Baptist Association.

    Doug enjoys studying and teaching God's word. He seeks to honor God in all things. He is humbled and thankful to be part of such a loving church.

  • Dale LaFrance - Elder

    Dale LaFrance born November 24, 1958. A native of Michigan. After graduating high school, joined the United States Marine Corp and served 4 years with an honorable discharge.

    While on leave during the Christmas of 1979 Dale surrendered his life to Jesus in Reno, Nevada while visiting his mom and stepdad. Six months after his discharge from the Marine Corps Dale relocated to Reno, Nevada.

    In 1982 he married his bride Debbie and raised a daughter and a son. Dale received a 2-year degree in business and has actively worked in church serving the Lord. He was licensed to preach the Gospel as a member of Crosspoint Community Church on October 15, 2006.

  • Derek Vaughan - Worship Leader

    Derek volunteers as our worship leader. He leads from the guitar with his wife, Maggie, often accompanying on the piano. She’s not always able to join because they are raising three small children! (Who ever wrote that song ‘Easy Like Sunday Morning’ anyway??)

    Derik teaches math at Wooster High School. He loves disc golf, and family. Maggie, in addition to raising three great kids, helps at a local homeschool co-op, and teaches piano lessons too.

    We are thankful to have the next generation of Vaughans serving alongside us.
